3 Tips To Help You Get Your Replacement Auto Parts For Less

Posted on

Unfortunately, there is simply nothing that you can do to completely eliminate the need to purchase replacement auto parts for your vehicle from time to time. However, this does not mean that you have to just accept paying top dollar for all of the replacement parts that you need. In fact, with the three tips outlined below, saving money on your replacement auto parts can be much easier than you think.

1. Buy Online And Pick Up In-Store

Many auto parts stores are now offering online-only discounts to individuals who choose to take advantage of their curbside service option. The best thing about this money-saving tip is that not only does it have the potential to save you some serious cash, but it also makes shopping for replacement auto parts far more convenient.

2. Consider Buying Used Parts

Buying used parts when appropriate is a great way of saving money on your replacement auto parts and helping to keep unnecessary waste out of local landfills at the same time. These used parts are often available through local scrap yards and are pulled directly off of vehicles that are either identical to your own or use the same exact part. In some cases, you will be required to pull these parts yourself in order to get the best deal. However, most auto salvage yards will offer a service that pulls the part for you for a small extra fee.

3. Always Inquire About Core Charges

Many car parts are sold with what is referred to as core charges. These charges represent an amount of money that the auto parts store is willing to refund you if you bring them your old car part that is no longer working. For example, if you purchase a part that costs $50 with a core charge of $10, you will be able to get back $10 of the purchase price for your replacement part by bringing in the old part that you remove from your vehicle. Not only does taking advantage of these core charges help to save you money on the auto parts that you need, but it also allows you to avoid the issue of making sure that your old car parts are disposed of properly. This can be a huge advantage as well since many of these parts cannot simply be thrown in your trash can due to restrictions placed on household waste disposal.
