3 Ways To Take Care Of Your Vehicle's AC System

Posted on

With spring on the way, it is time to make sure that your vehicle's air conditioning system is ready to kick into gear. Here are three ways to take care of your vehicle's air conditioning system.

#1 Change Out The Air Filter

One of the most important things you can do is change out the air filter in your vehicle before the spring starts. A clean air filter is crucial to keeping your system running smooth. If you put a lot of miles on your vehicle or if you live in an area with a lot of smog, you are going to need to change the air filter in your vehicle more often. Make sure that you note when you are going to need to change your air filter in the future on your calendar as well so you continue to breath clean air and reduce the strain on your system throughout the year.

#2 Get Your System Checked

Second, you need to make sure that you get your air condition system checked by a mechanic. A mechanic can make sure that you have the right fluid levels in your air conditioning system. They can ensure that your system is clean and is producing high quality, clean air. They can ensure that there are no air leaks or fluid leaks in your systems. If any issues are found, they can usually be addressed very quickly by your mechanic to ensure that you have the cold air you need to stay cool.

Watch out for AC specials. Many auto repair and oil change shops run air conditioning specials during the spring and early summer months. That is one of the best times to get your air conditioning checked and to get any issues with your air conditioning fixed at an affordable price.

#3 Use The Right Settings

Third, make sure that you are using the right settings when you use the AC inside of your vehicle. Put your AC on the maximum setting and use the highest fan speed when you first turn in on. This will really get the air moving inside of your vehicle and cool it off the fastest. Once your vehicle starts to cool off, move the controls down to normal and lower the fan speed. The lower fan speed will help ensure that the air you get is as cold as possible and will help maintain the cool air inside of your vehicle.
